Onboarding

Whether you are joining after an initial consultation or have already completed the MIC Intake and Consent Agreement, our onboarding process is designed to keep everything clear, compliant, and organized.

This page exists so agents always know exactly where they are in the process and what comes next.
From licensing and pre-licensing support through XCEL Solutions to carrier appointments and ongoing compliance, every step is handled with clarity and care.

1. Intake & Consent Agreement

Every agent begins with the MIC Agent Intake and Consent Form. This authorizes Myers Insurance Consulting to review, manage, and coordinate your licensing, contracting, and compliance activities.

Once submitted, your file is reviewed and routed to the appropriate onboarding path based on your current license status.

2. License Review & Compliance Assessment

This stage is not about obtaining a license. It is for agents who are already licensed.

Our licensing and compliance team reviews your existing licenses to determine where you are currently authorized to sell and what updates may be required.

This includes:

Review of all resident and non-resident licenses
Verification of active, inactive, or expired states
CE compliance review and renewal timelines
Identification of states you are eligible to add or reactivate
Verification of required certifications by product and state

Licensing and registration teams work together at this stage to ensure you are properly registered and compliant in the states where you intend to sell.

Once cleared, you move forward to agency alignment and contracting.

3. Agency Alignment & Contracting

Before carrier appointments begin, each agent is aligned with an agency within the MIC network.

If you are not already affiliated with an agency, this is the stage where introductions are made and alignment is confirmed. This step is required before any carrier contracting can occur.

Contracting then includes:

Agency alignment confirmation
Carrier submissions and release coordination if applicable
Appointment processing and follow-up
Carrier approval tracking and documentation
RTS readiness verification

This is the most detailed phase of onboarding and ensures all parties are properly connected and compliant.

4. Ready-to-Sell Activation

Once contracting is completed and carrier appointments are confirmed, your profile is reviewed for Ready-to-Sell status.

There is no paid production period before this step. Agents do not receive commissions until contracting is cleared and RTS status is granted.

This phase includes:

Final compliance review
Carrier appointment confirmation
System access verification
RTS status approval

Once approved, you are officially active and eligible to begin selling and receiving commissions.

5. Ongoing Agent Management & Support

MIC does not disengage after activation. We provide continued operational and compliance support for both live and remote agents.

Ongoing support includes:

License renewal and CE tracking
Carrier certification reminders
Compliance documentation management
Agency and carrier coordination
Year-round operational support

Register for your state licensing exam through Pearson VUE, or log into your existing Pearson VUE account.

You may complete this step on your own or request assistance from Myers Insurance Consulting (MIC).

💳 Note: You are responsible for the exam fee, which will be charged to the card you provided on your intake form. $40-$65. We do not pick the price it is dependent upon your state.

✅ Step 4: Fingerprinting & Background Check

Once you’ve passed your state exam, you’ll need to complete your fingerprinting and background check through IdentoGO, the state-approved vendor for the Department of Financial Services.

After you’ve completed your background check, MIC will assist you with submitting your license application to your resident state.

Once your application is approved:

  • You’ll receive your official state license number

  • Your National Producer Number (NPN) will then be automatically issued by the national system within 5–7 business days

During this time, we’ll monitor the process and notify you as soon as your NPN is active.

💰 Cost: Each state’s licensing fee varies (typically $50–$150). Per your agreement, MIC or your Elected Agency, covers the cost of your initial resident license.

✅ Step 6: MIC-Management and consent agreement

Once your license and NPN are both active, the final step is your onboarding and authorization process with Myers Insurance Consulting (MIC).
